International Woman's Day (IWD) is marked on March 8 every year. It is a major day of global celebration for the economic, political and social achievements of women.<br /> <br /> Started as a political event, the holiday blended in the culture of many countries (primarily Russia and the countries of former Soviet bloc). In some celebrations, the day lost its political flavour, and became simply an occasion for men to express their love to the women around them in a way somewhat similar to Mother's Day and St Valentine's Day mixed together. In others, however, the political and human rights theme as designated by the United Nations runs strong, and political and social awareness of the struggles of women worldwide are brought out and examined in a hopeful manner.<br /> <br /> The IWD is also celebrated as the first spring holiday, as in the listed countries the first day of March is considered the first day of the spring season.

1. Icons

Let's quickly explain what the icons stand for:

All News:
When the "All News" icon is active then the entire news content including videos, photos, quotes etc. is displayed in the content section.

Articles:
If you select the "Articles" icon then only articles are shown in the middle content sections.

Videos:
As the icon's name suggests, only "Videos" are listed if you click this icon.

Photos:
Yes, the "Photos" icon only gives you the photos which have been uploaded to site.

Quotes:
When clicking on the "Quotes" icon all the quotes ever submitted to our site are displayed in the content section.

Downloads:
Here you'll find helpful und interesting eBooks for download.

Submit News:
This icon is a new speedy way to submit catchy articles, photos, videos etc. to our site. Click on the icon and the "submit news" page, just as you know it, will open.

2. The content section:

The content section (left part of the screen) kind of stayed the same. You can still choose if you want to view the "latest", "popular", "random" or your "favourite" articles, videos, quotes, photos etc. by selecting the corresponding tab at the top of the frame. The functionality of the links remained the same too.

3. The sidebar

The sidebar has been subject to some nifty improvements, which we hope you like and find helpful. Read on!

The Life Area Box (at top of sidebar) We've given the individual Life Areas new icons to improve their looks

AND

if you click on a Life Area not only the drop down menu with the associated life areas opens, but right below the Life Area box you’ll now find a new feature displaying selected users who are particularly interested in your selected life area! So quickly make friends with them!

AND

we've even pushed it further and added another feature right below to suggest Life Dreams relating to the Life Area you've chosen. We believe this will inspire you to create your own life dreams or to join the life dreams displayed in the box.

And right below you can still find our "Related Books" section.

    Why this celebration never been awared by most people, this article even the first information for me if this celebration for women exist.

    Hi Shadow... ( btw cute dog! love it ) Unfortunately, not all countries celebrate this day, including Indonesia. However the spirit of it is still universal and can be celebrated and respected without any boundaries.
